It was so weird.

He hadn’t expected her to blurt out anything like that. He knew it didn’t mean anything, anyway. He wouldn’t have wanted it to. And hey, a minute later he was being chased out of the room.

Still. It’d hit him out of left field.

It felt like it couldn’t have been more than a few hours ago. It probably hadn’t been. If he focused, he could pick the spot out in the sky. 40 Eridani. She was still there. Like everyone on the Farragut.

Hell, he had to think a minute, just to remember her name.

Oh my, I liked this. ♥ It's the perfect mixture of Kirk's genuine surprise and a softer sense of melancholy.

(Didn't like the way both Kirk & Uhura seemed to forget about Gaila in the second half of the movie; plus, I keep seeing people hoping she'll be in the next one, and, well.)

Yeah, it was pretty dodgy, I gotta say. On one hand - vaguely understandable, because there wasn't really enough 'emotional downtime' in the movie to account for people except for Spock (whose emotional turbulence was a plot point) having Random Emotional Breakdowns. On the other hand, it would've been nice to get that human reaction. I mean, pretty much the entire year of cadets were wiped out, not to mention seven other ships and everyone just... conveniently ignored it.

... oh my god did I just tl;dr or what.

You know, I hadn't thought about it, but you're right--it *was* the whole class of '59, wasn't it? (And they never mentioned what was going on in the Laurentian system, either, which might've been nice.)

Stupid question: what does tl;dr actually stand for? I keep seeing the expression. :-)
